Oxycodone and Acetaminophen Tablets, USP (10 mg / 325 mg) is a prescription-only, Schedule II controlled substance combination medication formulated to manage pain severe enough to require an opioid analgesic when alternative treatments are inadequate.

Oxycodone/Acetaminophen combines the synergistic effects of two distinct pain relievers. The oxycodone component binds to specific mu-opioid receptors in the brain and spinal cord, inducing analgesia, anxiolysis, and feelings of relaxation. The acetaminophen component enhances pain relief while lowering fever. It is indicated exclusively for acute or chronic moderate-to-severe pain that cannot be safely managed with standard non-opioid medications.

Key Usage & Safety Information

Administration: Taken orally, typically 1 tablet every 6 hours as needed. The maximum daily dosage generally must not exceed 6 tablets within a 24-hour period to avoid severe toxicity.

Boxed Warning: The drug carries severe risks of addiction, abuse, misuse, life-threatening respiratory depression, and accidental overdose.

Hepatotoxicity: Due to the acetaminophen component, patients must ensure they do not exceed 4,000 mg of acetaminophen daily from all medication sources to avoid acute liver failure, permanent liver injury, or death.

Storage & Disposal: Must be stored securely at controlled room temperature away from children. Unused tablets must be destroyed properly via flushing to prevent illicit diversion or accidental poisoning.
